Eight years ago, I stood in a restaurant kitchen washing dishes for $11.30 an hour.

I'd come to Canada as an international student with big dreams and zero connections.

Today, I run MPM full-time where we've helped 3,000+ people land jobs.

But I didn't start here.

This was minimum wage. One of the hardest jobs I've ever done. But it taught me something: I could survive anything.

I got to meet students every single day. Listen to their struggles. Help them navigate Canada. This is where the seed for MPM was planted.

My first government job. I was 19 years old. The youngest person in a building of 10,000 employees. I felt like I didn't belong. But I showed up anyway.

Four-month contract. They paid well. I learned how to teach, how to break down complex ideas into simple steps. I use this skill every single day now.

Seasonal winter job. I needed the money, no shame in grinding.

Then COVID hit. Everything changed. The job wasn't fun anymore. But I learned how to pivot, how to adapt when things fall apart.

I had one of the best managers here. He taught me how to lead, how to juggle multiple priorities, how to think strategically. When he left, the magic left with him.

That's when I realized: people don't leave companies. They leave managers.

Yes, even while working government jobs, I took side gigs. Because I was building something on the side.

Learned budgeting, financial planning, managing resources. Skills I'd need to run a business.

Got promoted in 4-5 months. I was good at this. I understood people. I understood systems.

But I also realized…I was built for something different. I needed the freedom to create, to test, to build without waiting for approvals.

So 1 year later, I took the leap….

I quit my government job.

Walked away from the steady paycheck, the pension, the security everyone told me I was crazy to leave.

And I went all-in on MPM.

Since then? We've grown to a family of 300,000+ people. Helped 3,000+ land jobs. Built a team of 20+. Won awards. Launched an AI company. (How I launched an AI company is a story for another day…)

But more importantly, I've gotten to do what I saw that spark for back in 2019 as an international mentor: help people like you land the jobs you deserve.

Because you need to know something.

I wasn't special. I didn't have connections. I didn't speak perfect English when I landed here. (It took me 3 IELTS attempts)

I washed dishes. I scooped popcorn. I hustled.

But every single job taught me something. Every manager…good or bad…showed me what kind of leader I wanted to be.

And every rejection, every "we went with another candidate" email, every moment I felt invisible? That's what made me build MPM.

Because I know what it feels like to be stuck. To apply to hundreds of jobs and hear nothing back. To wonder if you're doing something wrong.

You're not.

You just need the right strategy. The right support. The right roadmap.
