Hello {{first_name}}
As an ex-recruiter at Govt of Canada, I never scrolled LinkedIn looking for candidates.
I searched for them.
I typed keywords into the search bar. The profiles that showed up got messages. The rest stayed invisible.
I have seen this happen to thousands of immigrants since I started MPM in 2021. Smart, qualified people. Zero recruiter messages. Not because they lacked experience. Because their LinkedIn headline had the wrong words.
Here is exactly what I typed when I was sourcing candidates, and what you need in your headline right now.
3 Keywords That Get You Found
Your exact job title (the one recruiters search, not the one that sounds impressive)
Your primary skill or tool (e.g. "SQL" for analysts, "AutoCAD" for engineers, "Salesforce" for sales roles)
Your city or "Open to Work" signal (keep open to work on for recruiters only)
Before: "Motivated professional seeking new opportunities in Canada"
After: "Project Coordinator | PMP | Ottawa"
The second headline shows up in recruiter searches. The first one never does.
Pro tip: Add your top keyword in your "About" section first line. LinkedIn's algorithm weights it twice.
According to LinkedIn, recruiters use keyword searches to find candidates 76% of the time. If your headline does not match what they type, you do not exist.
